Day 54

Ok, today I used bentonite clay (from Death Valley... the only clay they had at Whole Paycheck). I put 1 tbsp in 1/2 cup water, mixed well- a watery paste. Put that in my hair, massaged well, and left it in for a bit while I did other shower stuff. I rinsed and rinsed... being worried that it wouldn't rinse well... then did a chamomile/ honey rinse.

Gross.

OK? Just, gross.

My hair feels dry and greasy all at the same time. I bet it just isn't rinsed out enough, because it has a sort of powdery feel to it. It also is evident that the oils were not stripped out, which makes me happy, but I feel like it's going to be yucky sooner before my next wash. I feel that when I rinse tomorrow with water (chamomile) that it will feel better, when I will likely get the rest of the clay out. It was not fun blowdrying it this morning though, it felt dry and was difficult to brush. This would have been a great day for vinegar, I think. Perhaps that would have even helped rinse it out! Ah, well, it's all a grand experiment. I'll try clay again, with vinegar, and see what happens. It will be interesting to see how the week plays out, starting with a less than stellar wash. Hmmm.

  1. Well I didn't use bentonite, but I would be surprised if the type of clay matters a whole lot. I put 1 tablespoon in a plastic bottle with about 1 1/2 cups of water. Shook it well and put a small amount of that on my hair. It wasn't pasty at all and very easy to rinse out. It wasn't dry at all. Maybe just rinsing again will help?

My combs are getting really nasty as well and I was wondering about that! That's a good sign?

I used a tablespoon of it diluted in about 1 1/2 cups of water and only used some of that in my hair. It wasn't pasty at all and seemed to rinse out easily. I didn't use vinegar afterward, just a chamomile rinse. Maybe just another good rinse will take it out?

  3. yeah, everything I've read says that means your sebum is getting throughout your hair. My hair is now thick no matter what. I think you're right about the clay... I rinsed yesterday afternoon and to no avail... I'll have to do BS just to get this crap out. Where can I get French Green?

  4. ohhhh, sorry! I got the green clay from Cambridge Naturals (that won't help you out) but a lot of peeps seem to be recommending the Moroccan clay. I think there's a link to buy it online on the website I linked to on the other post.

  6. I heard about the Moroccan clay (rhassoul?) and that they actually talk about using it in hair. Oh well! I'll try again...
