Day 58

Oooh! Two months this weekend! I feel much better today, back to what works. I did a BS wash, followed by an ACV rinse (1 tbsp in some water) and then the chamomile/ rose/ honey tea, followed by cool water. Ahhhh! It's just right today, not dry or greasy, but nice and swingy and pretty. Plus the super awesome bonus that I always have body with no product in it!

I'm going away for the weekend, so at least I know it will be pretty.

I don't know about clay... I read about Moroccan clay (Rhassoul) and French Green, but neither of those things are available here so I'll probably stick with what I've got. After all one of my reasons is sustainability and a lighter footprint on the environment, so I guess shipping stuff from overseas wouldn't qualify. I'm intrigued though! Especially if it's less drying!

I don't feel dry today, and I think it's because I did ACV after, a small amount so I'm not greasy but enough to balance things out. This may be the formula that works for me.

  1. Hi Meena,
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. A group of my friends http://nomoreshampoo.blogspot.com/
have started this process and need some guidance. I am only on day 7, but not noticing much of a difference in my hair from when I was shampooing. I am not sure if I am doing this right. I have been BS'ing every other day, so technically only two times since I started. I am noticing that it is dry, so I am going to try an ACV rinse tonight as well as adding an essential oil to it. Am I doing this right or should I be cutting back on the amount of times I BS?

  2. Hi! If you look at my first entry, I posted a bunch of really great resources of folks who have been doing it a lot longer than I. I have ceased to use BS because I felt it was too dry for me, my hair was looking damaged at the ends. I did think that ACV helped... usually a tablespoon in a cup of water seemed to do it, anything more made me greasy. The whole point for me was to get away from washing so often. I've stretched it out to every 5 to 7 days now. I'm using a Burt's Bees herbal product that is much gentler on my hair and has few ingredients... mostly oil base. I think it's called Herbal Hair Remedy?? Anyway, I would like to find something that gets me off of using plastic contained products, but BS was just too dry. See if you can stretch out the time between washes, just rinsing in between. If you read back through my blog I lay out what has been working for me. Again, look at the first entry for all those great resources, with recipes and so forth. Good luck! I'll post an update soon.

  3. Thank you!!! :) I am trying to go 3 days without washing for right now. And I bought a brush to help distribute the oils down to my ends. We shall see if that helps. In one of your links, I saw some herbal recipes, so I am going to try a rosemary rinse tonight instead of ACV and see if that helps. I want to keep with the BS, because I think it keeps it clean, but I will try a little less or maybe the extra day will help and eventually stretch longer :) I will keep it on my scalp, too, instead of my whole head. Such a process! :) But worth it. Thank you for your help!
